Last Minute Cruises

Last minute cruises are not what they used to be. In the old days you may have driven to the pier, walked between 3 or 4 ships (of course ships were much smaller back then) to check for open cabins which the cruise lines were willing to sell. That was then and this is now.
The cruise lines offer so many advance rates, there is no need for a last minute sale. You now have access to: Past Guest rates . . . Senior Citizen rates . . . Military rates . . . Resident rates . . . Early booking rates . . . Category Bonus rates . . . and others. There might even be an “I Lost My Left Toe rate”. Doesn’t hurt to ask.
So the point of all this ………………….. You wouldn’t believe the number of people that were looking for cruises as late as the week before President’s week. These sailings, just like spring and fall break are either . . . . sold out . . . . or really high priced.
Take advantage of the up front discounts. If the price goes down, most cruise lines will give you the lower rate - based on the apples to apples thing. We have group space available for these breaks throughout 2009. If a better deal on the same ship . . . or even a different ship or cruise line comes along . . . it’s OK. As long as it’s before final payment . . . . we just move your money from one to the other. You take no risk by booking early.
Back to the beginning . . . it is very difficult to find a great last minute booking. Not to say it can’t be done, but you need to be able to move fast – not care where you go – and cabin and ship can’t matter. You probably would need to drive because airline fares would be pretty high. Besides all of that, the government is working on a 48 hour pre-registered requirement so that the Department of Homeland Security can check you out. Avoid the stress and book early. We’re here to help.

OK - I am back now. Had to leave adruptly earlier. The previous blog was to try and get an understanding of what people expect out of their cruise. this person . . . . . for whatever reason thought it would be best to store her belongings in the waste basket - and then hide it. If going to all that trouble, why not just put the items in your suitcase. When I asked her about this . . .after receiving her (and those are in her words) comments, she said to me "I have never had my garbage emptied in a hotel. I always put my valuables there" and then she continued to say "the cruise line had no right to assume the items in the trash are trash. I, for one, don't know how much more could be done, yet we continue to help all customers have the best vacation possible. Even when trying to get some money back for our clients on things as silly as this.

Dear Customer Service Representative:
I recently tr'aveled on your cruise ship departing from Tampa, Fl on the above referenced dates. I had a number of unfortunate incidents that happened during my cruise
involving my cabin steward, "xxxxx." I reqest your assistance in recovering damages for the value of these items. Specifically, on his own accord, my cabin steward threw away a number of invaluable items that were of a personal nature. These items are listed as follows:Item Value
Metal Base Board used for Counted Cross-Stitch
Fruit Bell Pull Counted. Cross-Stitch (containing Kit, graph, 28 Ct. Belgian Linen, half-way completed) $250.005.00Hoop used for Counted Cross Stitch
10.004 Original Certified Birth Certificate in the namea of value at
$120.00One unopened bottle of Metabolife One bottle SPF 30 suntan block One bottle SPF 15 suntan block and assorted magazines value at $356.00
All of these items had been placed by me in the plastic waste can in my stateroom. I put these items in the container so that they would not be disturbed. I then placed the container in my closet, behind my suitcase and along with other items I had stored in the closet.
Wondering

This morning I came into work and started wondering about things. I wonder how movie stars become who they are . . . . . I wonder why TV personalities make so much money . . . . I wonder why Oprah is as big as she is (she has been gaining and losing wieght, but that's not the big I am referring to - this time) . . . . I wonder why we drive on the parkway and park on the driveway. But, I was also wondering today . . . . Why would people buy cruises over the internet? It makes no sense to me that on the internet: you do all the work, yet at the end they charge you a service fee for using their site to buy from them. Yet an agency, such as GalaxSea Cruises, will advise you, talk to you about excursions, describe the ambiance of one ship vs the other, give you other guests opinions as a comparison, talk about menus or children's programs and answer any questions anytime. And all this service is given to you freely and willingly. So, I often wonder . . . why do people pay an internet server for service when the only service is that they take your money? Not to ramble on, but you pay GalaxSea Cruises no fees, yet you gain a whole lotta service.
Super Bowl Week

Now that the super bowl is over, I want to mention a little known fact. This will not only save you hundreds of dollars, but might save a relationship. SUPER BOWL WEEK is historically one of the best priced cruise weeks of the year. Think about it. Right now . . . 32 cities have a chance at being in the next supr bowl. A lot of people will not make plans for vacation during that time. Give us a call and we will check out the options for you. Watch the game at sea . . . no driving to the bar . . . no throwing a party . . . no worries about what your wife will be doing. See you at the game.
